One of my favorite toys growing up was Rainbow Brite and all of her friends. I thought she was so beautiful! I even bought my daughter a Rainbow Brite costume for Halloween a few years back!
Rainbow Brite is back! She's had a makeover and she is still spreading her positive messages of courage, kindness, and hope.
The Rainbow Brite website is interactive, where you can find FREE videos, a contemporary theme song, coloring pages, wallpapers, games and more!
What I'm most excited about is the new Rainbow Brite doll that is out in stores right now! Have you seen her? She's beautiful!

My mother is a poem I'll never be able to write, though everything I write is a poem to my mother. ~Sharon Doubiago
I've been trying to write this post for about a week - trying to figure out what to write, what words to use, what photos to use.
Tomorrow would have been my birth mother's 53rd birthday. She died on April 14, 2007. Even though I was adopted, from the moment I found her, it's like we started up right where we left off back in 1979.
Our bond was unbreakable. I was her firstborn daughter, the one she had to give away, the one she was hoping would find her.
And I did.
And I loved her unconditionally. I still do. I will never stop loving her.
She was the only one I could talk to about ANYTHING and not have backlash or be judged. We were truly honest with each other. I miss her so much.
A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington Irving
Above is a photo of my mom when she was a teenager. I looked so much like her when I was a teen, it's uncanny. Too bad I don't have any photos to share here.
Here's my favorite photo of her:
There's not many photos of her floating around... I have to cherish what I have.
Love you and miss you mom - I'll see you again someday.
A few years back, I met a great couple, Jeff and Michele Evans, when Jeff ("Gunny") and I worked together at Bechtel National. Over time we all became great friends and Jeff was always there to listen, provide advice as a Christian brother, and our kids used to play together. Fast forward a couple of years, and Jeff accepted a job in Washington State. I was heartbroken because they were the only couple that I connected with in the manner that I did. They are truly beautiful people! True Christians through and through who work hard and truly reap what they sow!
Not too long ago, while browsing Google, looking for Jeff, I stumbled across their website, J & M Designs, where I discovered that Michele had begun another business.
Jeff and Michele have always had the entrepreneurial spirit, ever since I have known them. They've done gift baskets in the past and recently expanded their business to jewelry.
Each piece is exquisitely made by Michele. I'll share a few photos of items that I love with you, but first I'll share with you some information about the company:
J & M Designs specializes in handcrafted jewelry, gift baskets, art and much more. The company was founded and is owned by the husband and wife team of Jeffrey and Michele Evans in 1998. The two started making gift baskets to give to family and friends for special occasions. The baskets were quickly in high demand and soon, silk flower arrangements and candy dishes were added to the product line. In 2006, jewelry was added to the line-up when Michele was looking for accessories that were "unique" and began making her own pieces. J & M Designs jewelry is not only unique; but fashion forward, eclectic, eccentric, wearable art that is also affordable for even the budget conscious Fashionista. J & M Designs online boutique offers pre-designed pieces for purchase, but also offers customers the ability to customize their own masterpieces. In addition to handcrafted jewelry, gift baskets, candy dishes and silk flower arrangement, J & M creates and "blings" pet jewelry, military ball gowns, canvas art creations and shoes. At J & M Designs we are "Handcrafting Art, Elegance, and Fabulosity!" For more info on our company or to see or product designs, please visit http://www.jandmdesigns4u.com.
Disclaimer:I was not compensated for posting about J & M Designs. I'm sharing this company with my readers on behalf of my friends, to hopefully get them more business and website traffic.

This may sound odd to you, and if it does, it's probably because you don't suffer from heartburn regularly.
I suffered from heartburn throughout each of my three pregnancies. But, in the past 3 or 4 years, I've started suffering from heartburn DAILY. It's very frustrating, especially when you don't have medication to treat heartburn. Personally, my throat burns, my stomach is upset, and sometimes I burp. Sometimes I even get minor food regurgitation and that is NO Fun at all!
This keeps me from doing things that I love to do sometimes, whether it's reading with my daughter or playing Barbies with her, to even going out in public. My heartburn interferes with my passions, my life, and sometimes even my sleep. If I don't take medication for it, I will have several bouts of heartburn throughout the day!
In regards to the "Official Sponsor of Everything You Do Without Heartburn" program by Prilosec OTC, is calling out all "passionistas" out there!
They're going to help 100 people realize our passions by providing sponsorships with an average value of $1,000 and a maximum of $4,000. What most moves you and will enable you to take your hobby or passion to the next level? From a commercial oven to turn your baking into a business, to plane tickets and trip coverage to take pottery classes in Italy or to hike the Grand Canyon -- the application criteria are simple: "Tell us who you are, what you love to do, and what you need to do it better. We also want to know, if sponsored, who you would tell about it."
Among the fifteen categories: food and cuisine, arts and crafts, family, home and garden, entertainment and leisure, health and fitness, travel, sports, and professional pursuits. So much to choose from! And time's moving fast -- the deadline was February 22.
(Yeah... I didn't get this post in time. Darn! I wanted to apply too!)
UPDATE 2/24/10: I received a note from someone representing Prilosec and you can still submit your application!
Know why I wanted to apply?
I'm passionate about computers - how they work, how to fix them, and I also want to learn how to design cool things (like blogs!) and I wanted to apply to use the money (if I won) to go back to school. I'm a single mom and I can't afford to go back to school right now since I have barely any disposable income. I attended my local community college for a little while back in 2000, but when I started working full time I ran out of time to go to school. Now the kids are older and I want to go back! My major was (and I imagine when I go back - it still will be) Digital Media. I also aspire to get an MCSE.
Yeah... I'm a tech junkie. Betcha didn't know that about me!
If any of you got to apply, good luck! If not, keep an eye out for the winners!
Disclaimer:I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Prilosec OTC. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
- link back to the blogger who sent me this award - post where I would like to be in 10 years - pass it on to 10 awesome bloggers (I'm tagging ten women total for both awards.)
Where would I like to be in 10 years?
Wow... ten years. I really don't wanna think THAT far ahead but oh well... I guess I will. I want to have my degree and an MCSE and be working on computers. I'd like to be married and have a home somewhere other than Maryland.
Another long overdue round of winners... I promise since I have the laptop now, this won't happen like it's been for the past two months! Shew... Thanks for sticking around!
Congrats to all the winners! I've emailed you all!
Thanks to everyone for entering, and thanks most of all to the sponsors for helping me promote my blog and/or by providing product(s) for myself and my family to try!
I'm so excited! I bought an ASUS laptop today from Best Buy! The price was GREAT ($499.99) for the space and performance I want/need, plus I can play my Sims 3 when I get the disk from my house. (More on that coming soon...)
I was tired of not having reliable access to a computer, so I went out and bought a laptop! Erin Pyle, my local Twitter/blogging buddy, has my FOUR desktops, trying to merge them into one workable desktop, so when I get those back, the kids can use that/them... and I'll keep my laptop just for me!
I paired the laptop with Cricket Broadband for $40/month and now I'm set! Be on the lookout for winners from this past week, reviews, and Long Overdue Giveaways to be posted within the next couple of weeks. For now, check me out on Facebook or Twitter because I always seem to stop by there during the workweek!
Hello, my name is Angie and I'm a Crackberry (Blackberry) addict!
I was sent a Blackberry Tour 9260 a few months ago (read my review here). Ever since I haven't had it, my life has kind of sucked. I no longer get to update my Facebook status via my Blackberry. I can't Tweet on my Blackberry. I was able to send photos from my Blackberry to my Facebook account and my MySpace account. Now, I can't keep up-to-date on my emails on my Blackberry.
When I had my Blackberry, I was constantly keeping abreast of anything that mattered to me: my friends on Facebook, news, weather, appointments, everything.
And now I'm lost...
Verizon and JuiceBoxJungle sponsored me to write this post, and they asked me to talk about the ways my smart phone affects my life as a parent.
If I was handed an extra $100 next month, I would get some acrylic nails and I would get a haircut. My hair hasn't been cut since May 2009, and it's long overdue. As for my nails, I've bitten them down to nubs and they're getting on my nerves! (Yes, my stress level is HIGH!) I barely ever get to do things for me, since I'm a single mom and all of my money goes to caring for my kids, so it's nice to do things for myself sometimes!
What would you do if someone handed you an extra $100?
Disclosure:Kodak and JuiceBoxJungle sponsored me to write this fun post, about what I'd do with a surprise extra $100 if someone handed it to me next month.
What a great concept. How would you like to Create Change?
Here's how I would like to create change.
Every year, I get mailings from the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure. Every year I say I'm going to go and I never do it. But, this year is the year that I've finally decided to do it!
See that up there? The above photo embodies it all - the feeling of overcoming something, the feeling of creating change, the feeling of helping with something bigger than yourself, the feeling of I DID IT!
I want that feeling! ... and this is why:
Breast Cancer has not hit my family (thank God!) but I am adopted and even though I found my birth family, we're not too close and I'm not 100% sure if there truly is Breast Cancer in our family.
Alternatively, I am a 9 year cancer survivor. I discovered I had cervical cancer when I was 23 years old. It was Stage 3 and I was SCARED. I'm lucky it was found when it was.
Cancer has always been close to me, even before that - when I was 7 I had a lump removed from my right arm. I still have the scar. I worry about cancer the most because of these two instances.
That's why even though there is no Breast Cancer in my history, I want to take this walk to help make a change.
We were asked to write about "What are you or will you be doing in 2010 to create change and how will winning this technology bundle help your efforts?" In addition to me FINALLY doing the 3 day Breast Cancer walk this year, winning this bundle would help me chronicle my trip there, my 3 day walk, via my blog, Twitter, and Facebook. Hopefully I could use it to get people to donate to this great cause!
I've gotten a few things from Eden Fantasys in the past and I've always been pleased (in more ways than one!) with not only the quality of the items I buy, but also of the prices.
For now, Eden Fantasys wants to offer one lucky reader their own Baby Bug, a discreet vibrator that is waterproof, has multiple speeds, and weighs only .4 lb!
Here's a photo of the Baby Bug:
More info about the Baby Bug, taken from Eden Fantasys:
Powerful yet practical, this smiling-caterpillar shaped vibrator is a great first toy for beginners, but it’s one you’ll still be going back to many years, and vibrators, later. Among the reasons for that is its sensuality; the shaft is made out of silicone and is broadly ribbed-like a caterpillar. It feels plush yet firm, but with a little flexibility and resiliency.
The vibrations are powerful yet quiet enough to be discreet, and you can cycle through the three speeds via plus minus buttons embedded in the shaft itself.
Lastly, this caterpillar’s waterproof, and we know you’ll take advantage of that because using this baby in the tub can add a whole new dimension of sensuality to your orgasm.
This "baby" is 5 inches long and has 4 inches in circumference. It's powered by 2 AAA batteries, which you can buy from the site or at your local store.

Ask any Mom on the street why she does the things she does for her family, and the answer will likely be simple - love. Our love for family, and desire to show it, drives just about everything we do as Moms. Whether baking cupcakes until midnight the night before your child's classroom party, dressing up like a princess to host a tea party with your kids or working overtime to be able to afford a special family vacation - sometimes we're willing to do just about anything for love.
And with the holiday dedicated to love just around the corner, it might be time to look past heart-shaped chocolates and consider a different way of expressing your love...with the purchase of a life insurance policy.
You might be asking yourself what love and life insurance in common. More than you might realize! Simply put, life insurance is a product you purchase because you love someone and want to make sure they'll always be protected financially, even after you're gone.
As we know from the Valentine's Day celebrations taking place in classrooms and romantic restaurants everywhere, love and fun go hand-in-hand! To get Americans thinking about life insurance as an expression of enduring love, the nonprofit LIFE Foundation is sponsoring the Crazy4Love Photo Contest. From now until February 19, you'll be able to visit the popular microblogging website tumblr.com and share a photo that captures how you've expressed your love to someone dear to you. One Grand Prize winner will receive a $1,000 gift certificate toward a romantic getaway weekend. Go to www.insureyourlove.org to learn more about the contest and to enter.
Check out this video from a very special "spokesperson" who knows a thing or two about love.
