More free crafts for kids

Friday, June 18, 2010

In addition to the Michael's FREE craft workshops I posted a little while ago, here are a couple more through The Home Depot and Lowe's.

There seems to be an abundance of free crafts for kids to make at local retail stores. Michael's, Home Depot, and Lowe's all have workshops that kids (and adults!) can make crafts, usually for free, but sometimes for a small fee. Maybe it's the recession, or maybe it's a way to get more customers, or a combination of both - but either way, there seems to be a huge reception to these events.

Lowe's has a Build and Grow Clinic where kids can make things for free. You do have to sign up, but it's an easy sign up in three easy steps!

Saturday, June 26th, your children can make a Monster Truck, and on Saturday, July 10th, your children can make a fun Ball and Cup Game!

There are 25 Lowe's Stores in Maryland, so you should be able to find one close to you!

In an effort to keep your kids busy this summer (and all year!), Home Depot also offers Kids Workshops. The Home Depot "How-To Workshops" are FREE and are designed for children ages 5-12. These workshops are offered the first Saturday of each month between 9 am and noon at all Home Depot stores.

The next workshop is Saturday, July 3rd and the children will make a periscope. On Saturday, August 7th, the children will make a School Bus Pencil Organizer.

There are twenty Home Depot stores within 50 miles of Baltimore so hopefully you'll have one close to you so your kids can make these projects!
