Review and Giveaway: Families with Purpose Dinner Games

Remember when you were growing up? No speaking at the dinner table unless you were being spoken to? I remember those days very much!

Those days are no more! We want to be involved in our children's lives, especially since it seems like everyone is moving in 20 different directions!

Enter Dinner Games by Families with Purpose!

What Makes these Dinner Games So Great?

Quick and Easy - Each dinner game is quick and easy, taking only one to three minutes to play

Appeals to a Variety of Ages - Dinner Games are available in two styles; The Original Family Dinner Games are designed for kids ages 5 - 12 and the Beginner Family Dinner Games are best for kids ages 3 - 6.

No Hassle - The dinner games are designed to be played at the dinner table while the family eats their meal. They require no advance preparation and most only require the use of supplies found on the dinner table.

Educational - The dinner games are designed to sharpen the family's critical thinking, social, math, memory and language skills all in a fun way.

Open up Conversation - Some of the dinner games use the family dinner to open up family conversation using thought provoking conversation starters.

Encourage Good Eating Habits - Many of the dinner games involve food and encourage the family to eat their vegetables and drink their milk.

Enhance Closeness - The games make the family laugh and encourage conversation both of which enhance a family's closeness.

Mess Free - All of the dinner games are laminated making spills easy to wipe off and clean.

We received two games to review: Gather Round Dinner Game, and Classic Dinner Games (pictured above). My children and I really enjoyed this game! I'm a single mom but I love to play games with my children and these games also allowed me to learn more about them. We learned about ourselves too, because one question my son even changed his answer after I answered the same one! (He had a guilty conscience lol!)

Here's my son while we were playing the game:

Even though he doesn't look thrilled there, he loved the game too! We all played these the first time on Easter Sunday and we have played at least once a week since! There are so many different cards and topics in these games, you could play for hours!

Sample Gather Round Dinner Games

Here is a sample of 12 of the 132 dinner game activities.

Everyone name as many red foods as possible

Pickup something and have everyone name a word that rhymes with it.

What's the funniest thing you saw this week?

Everyone sip their milk/drink

Give a thumbs up to whoever made tonight's dinner

Challenge someone to spell a word

Say 3 nice things about the person to your right

Name 3 super powers you'd like to have; let your family give you a superhero's name

Sing any song

Imitate a famous person or character for everyone to guess

Make up a story about a fish named Joe

Hum a tune for everyone to guess

Sounds like fun huh? Do you want to win one?! Then tell me in your comment which game you would choose out of the Beginner, Original, or Gather Round style.

Review and Giveaway: SpellQuizzer

As a parent of a child with ADHD, I'm always looking for new and exciting ways to keep my daughter interested while learning.

We were presented with an opportunity this month to try out this spelling program called SpellQuizzer. My daughter has been using this for the past three weeks, and I have seen a definite increase in her spelling grades as well as in her confidence with spelling. She's quick with her reciting too!

SpellQuizzer is a spelling program for helping children learn their spelling words and helps them practice their vocabulary. You can even download pre-made spelling lists for SpellQuizzer from their web site. You also have the option to share lists with other users! SpellQuizzer is also great for a homeschool curriculum!

Using SpellQuizzer, you can enter your child's weekly spelling list and make audio recordings of the words in the list. The software then quizzes your child, playing each word back to him or her one at a time, checking the spelling as they type in the words. SpellQuizzer corrects them when they type in a word incorrectly, and re-quizzes them on any words they missed once the first pass is completed. Just set up the child's list on Monday, and have them spend no more than five to ten minutes a day letting SpellQuizzer quiz him/her. By the end of the week s/he will be ready for their Friday spelling test at school. SpellQuizzer is also ideal for spelling bee preparation!

SpellQuizzer has its own built-in spellchecker that recognizes both US and UK English spellings. The spellchecker warns you if you enter a word that is spelled incorrectly. Because of this, children can create their own spelling lists guided by the curriculum they are working on!

Your child will also get hints for their words:

This is a great program and I think it could help your child! It sure has helped us!

Would you like to win a copy of this great program for yourself? Here's how!

Leave a comment who could most use this program in your household (1 entry)

*Remember if this first rule is not followed, no others will count!

A Little Something... For a little Someone

I made this card along with the others I shared here recently.

This card was very easy to make. I used a white card base, a tag from a tag booklet, and I stamped the sentiment (from a Stampin Up! set, but I can't remember which one), onto the tag with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used a turquoise paisley epoxy sticker to attach the top of the tag to the card, as well as two glue dots in each bottom corner. I also attached another epoxy sticker to the bottom left of the tag to add some visual interest.

This card literally took me 5 minutes to make! A very easy card - that's how I like them!

Hope you enjoyed - stop back for more sometime soon!

Review: JoeyTotes.com Reusable Bags

Recently, I was sent some JoeyTotes to sample. These reusable tote bags are so versatile and each set can be a variation of both Big and Small bags that can fit in one pouch:

1 Big/ 3 Small
2 Big/ 2 Small
2 Big
2 Small

Joey Totes are attractive, durable, high quality bags that can save the use of thousands of disposable bags over its lifetime. When you need to replace them,
they'll even recycle them for you! Joey Totes are made from a material commonly used in outdoor apparel called Ripstop Nylon. Each bag is reinforced with double-folded handles that are tough enough to carry 40 lbs. and will last for years. These bags come looking like this:

And they can fit anywhere:

The best part - they are sturdy and have lots of room!

I must admit, I had one heck of a time trying to get them back together the way I received them! I even emailed the sponsor of this post and they told me that they had even had contests at the office to see who could fit them back they way they came! So, I didn't feel so bad after that! LOL!

These bags would be a great gift for that special someone for Mother's Day! They can be washed by hand, or washed in the Delicate/Gentle cycle, and line dried or hang them to dry. They come in Large (9.5" X 5") and Small (8" X 4") and have a one year limited warranty. See this link for more info on these versatile bags! Then click here to view pricing information.

You can also become a fan of Joey Totes on Facebook!

While you're here, the owners of Joey Totes would like to offer my readers a 10% discount on their purchase. Please use the code "SimpleKindaLife" when ordering to receive this discount.

Thanks for stopping by to learn more about this wonderful product, and special thanks going out to JoeyTotes.com for providing me with this review.

Review: Eden Fantasys

*Warning: this post is Rated Adult and is not suitable for viewing by younger viewers and it is not suitable to be viewed at work.

I recently had the opportunity to review an item from Eden Fantasys. I was very excited to receive my item, the Lucid dream™ No. 14, a G-spot vibrator by Doc Johnson. I had never tried one of these before, and was very curious about it. I always read/hear so much about how elusive the G-Spot is, and wanted to know if I would be successful in finding mine.

This toy is a good price ($21.99) and is very powerful. It comes in two colors - purple and orange, (I chose purple, my fave!) and it has a multi-speed dial powered by 2 AA batteries. It's also waterproof! It's not too big, measuring in at 8.5" long and 1 5/8" wide.

This item is great for a single gal like me, or a married couple. I believe in keeping things interesting, both in the bed and out, and Eden Fantasys is the place where you can find what you are looking for to spice your love life up! My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed trying this out!

Eden Fantasys is a great site and hey have a great selection of Adult Toys, Lingerie, and accessories. Be sure to stop by and check them out!

Thanks to Eden Fantasys for this review opportunity!

Review: Basa Body

Recently, to promote awareness as well as the fundraiser I promote here on my sidebar, MomItForward provided me with an opportunity to try out some great personal care items, Basa Body. I received the Kiss Me Pack, which is shown below.

The Basa "Kiss Me" Gift Pack includes:

Basa Body Coconut Oil lotion (6 oz)
Basa Body Stick push tube (1 oz)
Mint Chocolate Truffle Soap (3 oz)
Cherry Chocolate Truffle Soap (3 oz bar)

As soon as I opened the box, I could smell the bar soaps. They smelled scrumptious! They are too beautiful to use, so I haven't used them. That night, I took my shower and used the Coconut Oil lotion, which smelled great and left me feeling soft and smooth! The body stick is great for elbows, feet, and anywhere else that gets dry!

The best thing about Basa Body (which is named after the women of Mombasa who produce coconut oil by hand by hand at Coast Coconut Farms) is that they donate 10% to projects in Kenya, as well as purchase the oil from the women in Mombasa. This has helped create many jobs for over 100 families in Kenya. Read more about their story here. While you're there, check out the health benefits of Coconut Oil.

A few other things I'd like to share with you are:

Anyone that purchases any Basa Body or Coast Coconut Farms product by May 12 will automatically be entered to win one of three prizes:
1) a $250 Disney Gift Card
2) a $150 amazon.com gift card
3) a $100 Target gift card
(You will also be entered if you make a cash donation of $20 or more using the button on my right sidebar. It's easy! I did it!)

Between now and May 12, when you use the promotion code "momitforward", you will receive an additional 10% off Kiss Me pack purchases. This is a great Mother's Day item for now less than $30!

What's New?

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Hello my friends. Yes, I'm still alive. Yes, I'm extremely busy and not quite sure where to start. Yes, I have a few reviews and giveaways to post but I currently have 4 giveaways listed on my blog, so the giveaways are going to have to wait.

The reviews are being formulated in my brain as I type this.

Guess what? Well, for one, I screwed up and went to my local Walmart for the All You event one day early! Man, now I'm mad at myself! Earlier I was mad at EVERYONE. LOL.

The weather forecast said that the weather was going to be 85 today, 87 tomorrow, so I KNEW I had to get out and enjoy the weather. (I'm like a new person when spring hits!)

So the kids, my boyfriend, and I drove down to Baltimore to enjoy a day of discounts. (Alot of museums/attractions were offering discounts today and are tomorrow also, as well as discounted parking. You can't beat that!) We were going to go to Port Discovery (a local children's museum) but we were too late for what we wanted to check out, so we went to the National Aquarium instead. I've always loved going there and haven't been since I lived at home with my parents, I think. My kids have gone with summer camp programs but I was pretty excited to go back.

It started to storm as we decided to leave the city and while we were driving up I-95 it was like we were running from the storm, but we beat it and made it home and so far, I hear no more rain (although I did see some lightning earlier).

I also treated the kids to Dairy Queen, which we don't do often. My son and I both got blizzards and my daughter got a waffle bowl sundae.

I've always loved Dairy Queen and we used to go to it ALOT in Pennsylvania, specifically the East Liverpool, Ohio and Beaver, PA, ones. Moved here and no Dairy Queen! It took Maryland about 13 years to get one. Finally....and it's 2 minutes from my house!

Life is good.

Now it's late and I'm tired but I've got 3 reviews that I think I'm going to post.

What did you do today?

GRRR....

Okay... here's the deal... If you ever checked out my profile or read my posts, you probably know that I am a government contractor. Which means social networking is blocked.

Your comments will be approved as soon as I am able and I will chat with you when I get home. If you want to "chat" with me, I'm always looking for a way to break up the day. Hit me up here.

What sucks the most is that I have TONS of emails to go through when I get home, but for now, I have to turn off all notifications from all of my Ning sites, because that's where I'm getting most of the emails from.

Please bear with me.

And pray for me! (I hate not having access to my social networks!!!)
