I'm a slacker

Sunday, December 6, 2009

I feel like we've had this conversation before: I'm a slacker. I wanted to put up a couple of giveaways for the Holiday Hoopla yesterday but it just didn't work out. I slept in late (until 10:30 am) because I've been staying up until 3 am, either blogging, moderating comments, or trying to get through the unopened emails in my inbox - which earlier in the week were toppling 500. I just got it down to 97.

Today will be better, since the blogosphere is relatively quiet on weekends. I subscribe to ALOT of blogs (that's how I win so much!) and that takes up a lot of my email. I'll get a couple of giveaways posted later and share some goodies with you all, if I find some.

I also need to take time to write for the Examiner. I haven't written there since Halloween. It's just been too busy.

After I woke up (TO SNOW! ggrrrrr....) I relaxed for a few and then got in the shower so I could go pick up my son from where he spent the night last night. Then I had to stop somewhere else. We came home and I started "finishing laundry" in preparation to leave again at 2 to take my son's football equipment back.

Since I've had my friend's electric heater for a year, and it's been in my trunk since Thanksgiving to return, we stopped by there to drop it off, but she asked me to go to Safeway for her for some bread. While I was in Safeway, I got sucked in - which is always what happens when I go into a store. I got 3 boxes of Post cereal for $.99 each (check out your local Safeway to see if you can get this deal), a package of boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.99/lb., two bags of Tyson chicken for $3.99 each, as well as the bread for her. Remember now that I went in there for just the bread. LOL!

Then we went to the Dollar Tree where I bought a new trashcan for our bathroom, some gloves for my kids, and a couple of rolls of giftwrap.

An hour after her request, I was at my friend's.

We ate some fried ham and eggs there, then came back home so my son could shower and we could leave for our end of the season football party for his rec team. (I'll be sharing pics soon.) I ended up staying there until about 10:30 and discovered that I knew one of the coaches in my past life, and we had many mutual friends back in the day.

I still have yet to get up my tree and right now I'm still trying to figure out where to put it. I think since I don't feel like rearranging my living room again, that I'm going to put it in front of the back door. I'll have to rearrange a little bit, but it won't be as bad if I put it where I usually put it (in the corner). That corner is now taken up by review items.

I also need to organize my bedroom and my living room better. Soon I'm going to start to look for a new place to live as our house is closing in on us. With two growing children living here, and no storage, it's getting quite cramped. Plus I'm having issues with repairs that the landlord isn't doing and I'm worried.

I'm about 50% of the way done with our Christmas shopping. I have a few things to get for my son, because he's only said that he wanted a cell phone, and I told him that he'd have to choose a few other things also. He finally added some things to his list. My daughter is mostly done but I might throw in a few things, but she got a high dollar item as her gift and it put me over budget. I am a single mom and I usually try to stick to a $150 per child budget, but she has been asking for a DSi for awhile and I finally got it for her. I got the bundle so I got a deal but it still put me over about $40. I also got her a vest from Land's End and some items from so I'm still overbudget. As for my son, I got him a vest and some items from also as well as a cologne set from Sephora. I'll get the rest for him after I get paid again.

I'm really hoping to spend the holidays with family this year, as I haven't done it in years. I'm going to have to call and see what they're doing because Mom doesn't do Christmas dinners at her house like she used to when we were growing up. I miss those days. The rest of my family is spread out across the country and this is a very lonely time of year for me. Plus since my birth mom died almost 3 years ago, the holidays are hard. I miss her very much. Add to that the fact that my sister and I are on the outs, and I barely speak to my brother, it's hard. They both live in Washington State, and that's really where I'd like to be in the next couple of years, so I can spend the holidays with family again.

I'm starting to depress myself with this post (silly rabbit!) so I'm going to close it for now, but I'll see you all a little later when I start posting giveaways and reviews again.

I just wanted you to know that you made me feel so much better! I too am a slacker! I too have not put up my tree, and I was feeling like I was the only one not to have it done. I also don't feel like rearranging my living room, but I guess I am going to have to. Maybe today I can get the tree up!

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, you are not alone!!!! I am right there with ya!

    Have a wonderful day!

Wow-Slacker my butt. It looks like you are keeping plenty busy over there! Lol

The holidays are particularly 50/50 for me also. I just seem to have problems every since I got sick, so your not alone in those particular feelings!

Hopefully you can get some stuff done and put your mind at ease for awhile :)
