This year has been a rough one financially for many people. In comparison, we are more fortunate than many others in other countries. And, it's also the holiday season and this is THE time to give back.
Oxfam America Unwrapped is a great place to put your hard-earned dollars to work for those less fortunate than us.
About Oxfam America:
Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. We are part of Oxfam International, a confederation of 13 Oxfams working in more than 100 countries. Together with individuals and local groups in these countries, we save lives, help people overcome poverty, and fight for social justice.
Oxfam America is a Better Business Bureau (BBB) Accredited Charity and has loads of gifts that you can give to someone who needs it.
I personally was shocked about the types of items you can buy at Oxfam to donate! From manure (who knew?!) to toys to water purifiers, you can search for gifts either by interest, occasion, recipient, and price.
I also like that Oxfam America has a gift registry! There's even a place where companies can learn about Corporate gifting!
The best part about the Oxfam America website is that you can see your gifts in action. From a seeing how the gifts help women start a small business, to Saving for Change, you can actually see where your money is going.
If you have a minute, view the video below about Saving for Change - a program that launched in 2005 and has since helped more than 100,000 poor women and men in Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Cambodia have joined savings and lending groups.
The best thing we can do in our life is to do for others, and Oxfam America is an easy way to help others (with very little money!)
