Mrs. Dash: Flavor without the Salt

Mrs. Dash's Salt-Free Seasoning Blends have been around since I can remember. There are now 15 different flavors you can buy, from Original Blend to Italian Medley, to Hamburger Grilling Blend. I have tried various types, and I have loved the flavor each and every one has brought to my food. The best part is that we get tons of flavor without the salt.

Recently, Mom Central sent me a jar of the new Fiesta Lime Flavor to try out.

As we all know, salt is found in alot of our food, most of being found in processed foods and fast food. Reducing salt intake can help you reduce your chances of getting heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure. I was excite to try this, as I've been looking for more ways to eat healthy while not sacrificing on taste.

As soon as I got this seasoning blend, I pulled some chicken drumsticks out of the freezer to defrost, and when they were fully defrosted, I mixed 4 tbsp. of the Fiesta Lime Seasoning Blend with 1 tbsp. of oil, poured that over the chicken, covered the chicken with foil, and I marinated it overnight in the refrigerator. The next day, I baked the chicken and the chicken came out scrumptious and tender! Although I didn't take a picture because I forgot, this chicken looked and smelled delicious!

Here's a recipe I found on the Mrs. Dash site:

Fiesta Chicken Drummettes

* 1 lb Chicken Drummettes
* 4 tsp Mrs. Dash® Fiesta Lime Seasoning Blend


1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly brush the chicken drummettes with olive oil.
2. Sprinkle Mrs. Dash® Fiesta Lime Seasoning Blend on all sides.
3. Bake for 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.

Fiesta Lime Fajitas

* 3 Tbsp. Mrs. Dash® Fiesta Lime Seasoning Blend
* 2 Tbsp oil, divided
* 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts or boneless beef sirloin, cut into 1/2 inch strips
* 1 medium onion, cut into thin strips
* 1 medium bell pepper (red and/or green), cut into thin strips


1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat. Add meat; cook for 3 minutes until no longer pink. Remove from skillet.
2. In the same skillet, heat remaining 1 tablespoon oil. Add onion and bell pepper; cook 3 to 5 minutes.
3. Return meat to skillet. Stir in water and Fiesta Lime Seasoning. Cook for 3 minutes until heated through.
4. Spoon into warm tortillas. Serve with toppings, if desired.
