Sir Topham Hatt™, the Controller of the Railway, tells Thomas the Tank Engine the exciting news about a circus coming to Sodor, in Thomas & Friends™ Live! On Stage: A Circus Comes To Town.

My children never really got into Thomas the Train. Believe me! I wanted them to! Remember that my first child is going to be 15 this year, and the only boy I have is going to be 13 this year. We were a little too early for the Thomas The Train thing!

Never mind that... Thomas the Train shows have started!

Let me introduce you to Thomas the Train, in case you haven't been formally introduced!

Sir Topham Hatt™ serves as an honorary Ringmaster when the circus comes to Sodor in Thomas & Friends™ Live! On Stage: A Circus Comes To Town.

The all-new 90-minute musical adventure Thomas & Friends™ Live! On Stage: A Circus Comes To Town is packed with audience singalongs, high-energy dancing and thrilling adventures. When Thomas makes a big mistake, all the engines on the Island of Sodor must work together to prepare for the exciting event under the Big Top as Thomas proves he's a really useful engine once again. Along the way, Percy, James, Gordon, and of course Thomas, join with Sir Topham Hatt and the townspeople from the Island of Sodor to welcome a colorful cast of circus performers in an engaging story that demonstrates the importance of friendship and cooperation.

Thomas & Friends™ – The Series

Thomas & Friends™ has been making tracks to great destinations for more than 60 years with classic stories of adventures from the railways on the Island of Sodor. The Thomas & Friends™ animated series, narrated by a Storyteller, invites children to enter a world of imagination through the tracks of a train and the words of a story. The series features Thomas the Tank Engine™, a cheeky, fussy, true blue engine who proudly wears the “#1” on his side and a cast of track stars, including James, Percy, Emily, Henry and Gordon, as well as Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of the Railway, who keeps everything running smoothly. As children embark for fun and excitement with their engine friends, adventures unfold that lead to timeless life lessons such as discovery, friendship and cooperation.

Thomas the Train was brought to life by The Rev. W. Awdry when he sought to entertain his young son Christopher while he was recovering from the measles. He used to write down the stories on scraps of paper! The Rev. W. Awdry had never considered publishing his stories until Mrs. Awdry encouraged her husband to submit his work to a literary agent and in 1945 the first series, “The Three Railway Engines” was published.

More books followed at yearly intervals and after writing and publishing 26 Thomas the Tank Engine™ books, The Rev. W. Awdry retired with "Tramway Engines." Soon after, Christopher continued in his father's tracks and began creating railway stories for his own young son, Richard and in 1983 published his first book, “Really Useful Engines.”
Today, children embark on fun and exciting adventures with those very engine friends, as their timeless stories and life-lessons are enjoyed by families in more than 100 countries.
