New Year's Resolutions

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Happy New Year everyone!

I figured I'd post my New Year's Resolutions here. If you write it down, you're supposed to be held accountable!

1 - #1 for me, literally, is to lose 50-70 lbs. I had 20 more than I wanted when I had my gallbladder removed. Now I have 50 more & I hate how I look in the mirror and the size I am in!

2 - To work on my relationships with my family. All of them.

That's it. I think I can do that...

Happy New Year to all of you. Best wishes for a Grand 2009!

Blessings,
Angie

Merry Christmas!!

Thursday, December 25, 2008

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you & yours a Merry Christmas!

My children have opened their gifts and are enjoying them. They mostly got gift cards, a few things each to open, but it's easier for them to choose what they want.

I finished my holiday baking yesterday, all except for the fudge, which I may (or may not) do today. I made Peanut Butter Blossoms, Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Chip (with peanut butter & chocolate chips), 'Dream' cookies which are oats, cocoa powder, and regular cookie dough, with some whit chocolate chips, and some Pumpkin Cheesecake bars. YUM!

Right now the ham is in the oven. It's almost finished it's first hour, one more (or longer to go). We were invited to go to my "boyfriend's" mom's family's house at 4 today but I haven't decided yet if we are going (I may post about this later...).

For now I am enjoying my day. It's in the 50s here in Maryland, a little overcast, but a beautiful day.

I hope you & your family enjoy each other and celebrate the birth of our Savior!

God bless you!

Merry Christmas!

Update on sick kids and sharing some cookie recipes

Monday, December 22, 2008

Yup... just as I thought, the kids are too sick to go to school today. I woke them up at 5 am and felt their foreheads and asked how they felt. My son's face is swollen (mostly his eyes) and he sounded HORRIBLE!! So I called my boss and told him I wouldn't be in today. So this means I have to work tomorrow, if they are well enough to go to school. Tomorrow is a half-day of school so it doesn't really matter, but I do need to go to work!

This time off finds me freezing in this old house (built in the 70s) with horrible drafts. My baseboard heat is no match for these temps and wind! They are all on high but I am still freezing, and I have on a tank top, a t shirt, and a sweatshirt!

I am also planning my holiday cookies from my new book, Better Homes and Gardens The Ultimate Cookie Book, that I got from having a House Party Cookie Swap. So, I thought I'd share a recipe or two here.

Here's one that I am planning on making:
Peanut Butter Oatmeal Rounds
Prep: 30 min Bake: 10 min per batch oven: 375 degrees F makes: about 48 cookies

3/4 c. Butter, softened
1/2 c. Peanut butter
1 c. Granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. Baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 1/4 c. All-purpose flour
2 c. Rolled oats
1 c. Chopped cocktail peanuts or semisweet chocolate pieces (I am going to use the chocolate in ours!)

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large mixing bowl beat butter and peanut butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining fliur. Stir in oats and peanuts/chocolate pieces.

2. Drop dough by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes or until edges are light brown. Transfer cookies to a wire rack and let cool.

I have never made fudge and this book also has an easy fudge recipe. Here it is:

Fabulous 5 minute fudge

Prep: 5 min. Chill: 30 min. Makes: 24 pieces

(These are great as gifts! I think I may make double to pass some out!)

1 12 oz. Package of semisweet chocolate pieces (2 cups)
2/3 c. Sweetened condensed milk (one-half of a 14-ounce can)
1 TBS. Water
3/4 c. Chopped walnuts, if desired
1 tsp. Vanilla

1. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper; set aside. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate pieces, sweetened condensed milk, and the water.

2. Microwave, uncovered, on 100% power (high) for 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 1 minute more or until mixture is smooth, stirring every 30 seconds. Stir in nuts and vanilla. Pour onto the prepared cookie sheet and spread into a 9X6-inch rectangle. Chill about 30 minutes or until firm. Cut fudge into 1 1/2-inch squares.

Note: store candy as directed on p. 16. Store at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Easy peasy right?

Well I am off to the store to grab eggs, brown sugar, and a few other things for my cookie making.
Might be back later to share a few more recipes! (Wish I could share pics!! Why Blogger, why?!)

Blessings,
Angie

Sick Children, Migraine, & Christmas Preparations!

Sunday, December 21, 2008

Hello!

Thanks for reading my blog!
I hope that God is continuing to bless you & your family, as he is doing to mine!

What a weekend I have had!! WOW!!!

First of all, I work at my real job from 630 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday and this gives me every Friday off, which is very nice, especially to get some 'me' time! So this past Friday I was enjoying my day off to myself, I ran to Rite Aid (you may have read my post about that trip the other day), in the rain grr!!, and about 10-15 minutes after I got back in, the school that my youngest daughter goes to called & said that she had a 99.7 degree fever, could I please pick her up? So I did... even though they usually call when it gets over 100, but whatever, right? I mean, I was watching The Young & The Restless, but Baby Girl is more important. She wasn't whiny or fussy, so that was good; I made her some chicken noodle and made sure she kept fluids in her, and she played nicely in the living room and helped me get our Christmas cards together so I could mail them out that day.

My son came home from middle school & wanted to go to a friend's house in another town so I took him later that evening. I spoke to him on the phone the next day, Saturday, and the poor guy was stuffed up - he was sick too! He stayed there all weekend & even went to his biological father's house - who gave him $50!! But hasn't paid me support in exactly a month?! (Another Wtf Moment!!)... anyway... I will leave that alone for now...

I had a headache all week - I usually keep a headache (which is VERY frustrating!) but on Saturday it kept coming back... then this morning it was bad! I stayed in bed & slept off & on all day (luckily Baby Girl was playing nicely again), trying to get rid of my headache, but by 6-7 pm, I couldn't take it anymore. I had to go pick up my son anyway so I called him & told him I was on the way down & that I had a Major Migrained & would not be stopping in, so I would call him when I arrived & to be ready. On the way there I had to stop and get some headache medicine, so I stopped at the closest store, the local Giant grocery store, and luckily, their store brand migraine medicine was on sale from $6.49 to $3.99 for 100. I took 4 in the car & proceeded on my way. The trip is about 25 minutes depending on traffic and since I knew that I wouldn't be able to deal with a lot of lights, I went back roads to avoid traffic. Luckily by the time I was almost home my headache was finally gone, so I stopped back at Giant and picked up our holiday ham (on sale for $1.49/lb), some Clementines (on sale for $3.99), soda (on sale for 4/$10 - we got 2), snack for Baby girl for school snack time, drink boxes for Baby girl's holiday party on Tuesday, and a few other things. Luckily I was able to buy those items since my mom sent us gift cards for Christmas - my gift was a $50 GC to Giant, which is almost gone now.

Since both of my kids are sick tomorrow I may not be able to work tomorrow. I will be waking them up when my alarm goes off to check temperatures and see how they feel, and then make my decision from there. My son hopes he is not worse - he is striving for perfect attendance this year. He is my one child who doesn't get sick that much & he barely ever misses school; Baby Girl is the one who gets sick A LOT - I always wonder if the ADHD has anything to do with that... anyone know??

I was planning to take off Tuesday so I can start my holiday baking. I already requested off Wednesday, but I want Tuesday off now also! It will be slow at work but if I miss tomorrow I will have to go in on Tuesday for timesheet submissions. Then I will be off from Wednesday until next Monday. Nice break - but Tuesday through Monday would be an even nicer break!

I will be back tomorrow to post an update on our Christmas - God is good!!! I was going to update now but this post is already long enough!! Plus the news is on since the Giants won the game FINALLY! And I have to check the weather for tomorrow... no snow here like Most of the rest of the country but it's windy and cold with a wind advisory with gusts expected up to 45 mph up until tomorrow at 6 pm. Happy Winter Solstice to all of you!

So I did pretty good huh?

But now I am upset that they didn't charge me the sale price! The sales change on Saturdays so I am definitely calling over there! There was a sign right under it saying how much it cost!

Anyway - catch any awesome deals this week? Have any to share? I think I will be taking a trip to the grocery store tomorrow - I will share my finds afterward!

Have a good one!

Update on Finances

Friday, December 19, 2008

I'm back! That was fast, I know!!!

A few of you read my venting post that I posted on Dec. 4th and you encouraged me, and sympathized with me. I know that life is hard for most people right now, unless you are the CEO of a company, or a member of the Government, the rest of us are having a hard time...

Well the Christmas season is Not about money or spending it. It is about Jesus & HIS gift to the world... everlasting life. My children know this and they understand (I think) but we live in a pretty affluent area, so their friends all have things that they do not.

I grew up pretty nicely- my parents weren't rich, but I guess they were responsible because we had a nice house, and everything we needed, some things we WANTED, and we were only a one-income family.

Anyway, I mentioned how I wouldn't be able to get any gifts (personally) for my kids but I know resources in my area, so I utilize them. I signed up for gifts from a local agency, and I pick them up tomorrow.

I was able to get a few things for my children, due to belonging to Think Big with HP: they "pay" members in Amazon.com gift cards and I saved a few up to get my kids a few things. Hopefully they arrive today!

At work I am a secretary for a rather small Telecommunications company based in Chesapeake, Va. They do government contracts, so I work on Aberdeen Proving Ground here in MD. I support 42 men and 2 women. They are an eclectic bunch but I love them all in their own way.

Yesterday was our work Christmas "party" and I organized that, as well as a collection for our boss. We presented him with a handmade card (yay!!! Love handmade!!) with $250 in AMEX GC's, and $30 - the cash came from late donaters! Hehe...

Little did I know that the guys were organizing their own collection - for ME!! So they gave me $120, which I immediately deposited into the bank and went to Kmart.com to look at the prices of their outerwear, because my son has no coat, only jackets. I found him a nice coat for $29.99, and while I was there I figured I'd spend $50 to get free shipping, so I looked for one for Baby Girl - found one for her for $24.99!!! So I am happy about that.

My parents sent us some GC's too - $50 for Walmart for both of the kids, and $50 to Giant grocery store for me. Much needed & appreciated!!!

Tomorrow I pick up the gifts that were donated to us - hopefully Christmas will be good! No clue who we'll spend it with but as long as we are with loved ones, it will be a good one!

Have a great day!!

Overdue Post... 1 of 2 for today!

Good morning!

It's Friday! Yippee!!! My day off... I love it!!! I still wake up with the children on my day off but not as early as I do to go to work!

I have been meaning to post this since last Friday, but LIFE has gotten in the way!

Last Friday was a good day for me... I had found out on Thursday that I won the Land's End contest over at Momma in Flip Flops 2 (post on that to come soon!!!), and I was ecstatic! I got a choice of a duffel bag, a cashmere sweater, and something else, which has escaped my mind right now! I picked the cashmere sweater since it's been about 8 years since I had one! I can't afford cashmere on a single mother income!

On Friday I received the Garmin nuvi 200 that I had won back in September in an instant win game from Nationwide. (Review on that coming soon, it will be on my other blog Review It! By Angie, but I will post a link here as well.)

I also received the $50 in DC Lottery Scratch offs that I found out I won a fee weeks ago! I immediately scratched them all and won $49!!! So that was pretty cool!

I also received a birthday planning book that I didn't know that I won until I got it. That was a winning from Central Penn Parent newsletter, based in York County (I think) in Pennsylvania.

So all in all it was a good day. Soon I will be posting about the Land End's sweater but I can't do that on my mobile as I need to add Momma in Flip Flops 2's button as well as a permalink, and that's VERY difficult to do on a cell! (No copy and paste!)

I hope you all are having a great week and preparations are going well for your Christmas plans!

God bless,
Angie

How I Want To Give Back

Monday, December 8, 2008

Hi all,

This is a serious post, so sit down with your favorite cuppa, and let me tell you MY STORY.

When I was younger, like most of us, I made some bad choices. I am still trying to figure out why. The sad reality is that I may never know...

When I was 16 years old I married a man who was abusive to me. Why? Because I wanted to get out of my parents' house. Because I felt that they were too strict... my bedtime was 9 pm, I couldn't go certain places with friends, etc.

Boy, was I stupid.

I stayed with him two months. Yup, a whole two months until he went to jail for beating up a previous girlfriend.

A year later, I was back in the same situation, but with a different man. This one was mentally, verbally, and physically abusive, and almost kicked me in my stomach when I was 8 months pregnant. He did punch me in the face that night too, but I fought back on that one. "Don't you EVER punch me in the face!!!"

I stayed with him for four years and two children later. Why? Again, I don't know... I guess I was young, stupid, scared, whatever you call it... I was co-dependent.

This guy was bad news from day 1. From the alcohol and drug abuse to not keeping a job, he did nothing for me. Finally, when my daughter was about to be born, social services was called because we had been living in a house with no electric.

That was the best thing that could have happened to me.

I had my Social Worker contact the local battered women's shelter and I went to move there. That was very hard for me. I had been on my own since I was 16 and I was, at that point, 22. I was used to my rules, doing what I wanted when I wanted...

I moved into the shelter and they make you write down goals. And once you accomplish a goal, you have to replace it with another. That was great discipline for me!

In 3 months I had my GED, had registered for the local community college, and was working. Yes, there were tough times but I learned a lot, both through my experiences and through the women I met.

I can never replace that experience.

And I wouldn't want to.

One thing I noticed is that the domestic violence laws are very lax. Get a restraining order - they break it with no regard. Sometimes they kill you. About 2 years ago here in the MD/DC/VA area, a woman was burned by her estranged husband at her job by gasoline. He walked right into her job, doused her with gasoline, and lit a match. I will never forget when I saw that on the news.

Luckily he was sentenced but she will forever be disfigured, and I'm sure, emotionally scarred, from her life with him.

Also, the lack of shelters for abused people (this includes men because they are victims sometimes also!) in this area especially. Most women will not leave because they don't know where or who to turn to.

I plan to change this by opening a shelter... not sure when or how but that is a goal for me.

Your thoughts? Please share!

Another HP Magic Giveaway Entry!

Sunday, December 7, 2008

I want (NEED!!!!) to win this package soooo bad that I am entering MOST of the blogs hosting the HP Magic Giveaway!
So far, I've entered 8 and this post will be for my 9th entry and tomorrow (since it's 2 am Saturday night!) I will email another entry (#10).

So you can see how bad I want (NEED!!!) this!

First thank you to all the bloggers, and the sponsors of the giveaway! This post in particular is for Techie Diva's blog - found here:

I would love to win this for these reasons:
Back in Feb. 2008, I had a leak from my bathroom that leaked through the ceiling right onto my custom-built pc, ruining my 8-in-1 drive that houses USB ports, and various media card readers. Not until recently did I know that it also harmed my power supply, making my pc virtually pointless to have.
I'm a single mom and can't afford to have it fixed right now.
So, since I have children, and my 7th grade son constantly needs to use a pc to type papers, do research, or write reports, I always have to take him to the library or to friends' houses to use the pc. This is getting to be very time consuming & frustrating.
I am also a computer junkie. I love gadgets. I could replace the power supply myself but again is the money issue...
So to get my internet fix outside of work, which blocks all social networking, to include blogs, I have to use my Sidekick cell phone, which causes cramping & continuous battery charging!

If I were to win this package I would share it with the following people/organizations:
1 - my sister-in-law and brother, whose pc was stolen a couple of months ago. They had never backed up their pc so they lost tons of photos of their daughters and MP3s.

2 - about 10 years ago I was in a tight spot & had to go live at a battered women's shelter for about a year. I will give back by sharing part of this package with them.

I really hope to win one of these packages!!! I'm praying!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Okay... if you know me and have stopped by to read my blog, or if you just ran across my blog, please note that I am not asking for help or for sympathy! I just need to get some things off of my chest!

Here it is, December 4th. 21 days until Christmas. Now I know that Christmas is about Jesus & His birth, not the commercial holiday it is now.
But, since I am a single mom of 3 (even though one does not live with me), how do u tell them that they don't need any gifts?

Life in my household is extremely difficult right now. I have no money for anything right now, not money to pay most of my bills or even put food on the table, let alone gifts.

A lot of this I blame on the government. The cost of gas/electric (including petroleum) is kicking my butt! Here in Maryland, our electric was deregulated back in the 90s but price increases were capped until recently. We who live here have seen our electric bills rise by 75%! That means for those of us who used to pay $150 a month are now paying substantially more. My electric bill typically runs from $300-400 anymore, and most of the day no one is in my house! And my computer is dead so even that is not sucking up the electricity.

In the past three weeks I have had to put $900 (approximately) into my vehicle, because I need it to get back & forth to work.
And guess what?! I still have about $300 in repairs that I need to do to my car!

I am behind on my rent, my electric, and my house phone got turned off today. I have no food in the house.

I will utilize the resources that are available to me, hopefully they can help.

I really need to win a computer! My goal is to offset my income with doing a little bit of work here at home when I am able. Plus I enjoy technology and love computers! I currently review products for a few sites, as well as take surveys and do paid emails, but so far, they don't amount to much. I hope to join the Family Review Network soon - I applied for that 2 days ago. (Pray I get picked please!)

I would also love to guest blog and be a moderator, since I love to write! (That journalism class in High School WILL pay off - I am determined in this!)

Part of the reason my financial situation is so bad is that I pay $600 out of my checks each month for medical insurance. My company picked some really crappy stuff and they don't put much into it. I also pay a couple hundred a month for Child Support for the child who does not live with me. I just contacted my local DSS to talk to them about letting me cancel this policy due to the impact it is having on my finances. I can get it cheaper from an individual rep! I checked into it last year but never heard back from DSS.

Oh and get this - I have 3 kids and only get support for ONE! And even that is "whenever"... he is currently in arrears by $1400, give or take. But if it were me, they'd lock me up!!!

So yeah... this is a very rough time for us this year. It always is. I don't even want to put up the tree but I feel bad that I didn't last year, so I will this year.

So for now I keep praying to do the following:
1 - win as many gifts as possible
2 - win a pc
3 - let the local radio station that is helping people with child support arrears help me out! (Hint hint 92Q - 92.3 WERQ Baltimore & the Rickey Smiley show!)
4 - pray, pray, pray
5 - hope my children "understand".

Thanks for listening... everyone needs a shoulder to cry on!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thursday, November 27, 2008

It's 1 am on Thanksgiving Day. I am refreshed from taking a 5 hour long nap except for the guilt trip thing. (You know... the kiddos being up and all. But they are 12 & 9 so it's not like they NEED me there all the time.) Still... I feel guilty!

Anyway, I wanted to take some time to post what I am thankful for this year. Much of the time it seems as though my world is crumbling around me, especially since I am a single mom in this economy. BUT God has blessed me with many things! So here's my list of what I am thankful for:
1. I am thankful for being alive. I was adopted so being alive is a very special thing to me. I could have easily been aborted.

2. I am also thankful for being adopted by a family who enstilled morals and values in me.

3. I am thankful for my children. They are all beautiful & smart!

4. I am thankful for the experiences I have had that have taught me lessons and brought me to this point.

5. I am thankful to God for opening my eyes and continuing to bless us.

6. I am thankful for friends & family.

7. I am thankful for the winnings I have accumulated since February of this year. Although not 1000s of dollars (YET!!! LOL) they have all saved me money that I don't have.

What are you thankful for? Leave a comment and share with us!

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Oh and please pray for the situation in Mumbai!

12 days of Christmas!

Friday, November 21, 2008

Remember the 12 days of Christmas? I have always loved that song! Well there's this site that is making the 12 Days of Christmas even better, if it's possible!

Over at http://typeamom.net they have been having a 12 days extravaganza!!! I mean, every day the prize totals have been valued at over $200!!! There's gifts for Mom, Teen, Grade School kids, dads, babies, and toddlers!

Today is Day 9, and it's only up until midnight. So hurry over there, register for the site (yes you have to register!), post a comment to win, and earn extra entries for tweeting about it using #12days keyword, inviting friends using their invite friends tool on the site, blogging about it like I am, and by writing an article (like I did yesterday - look for my article - it's on this headache I have had for 6 days now!). Good luck!!!

$200 Cherish Bound Giveaway!

Thursday, November 20, 2008

I am a papercrafter, but when I saw Tara's tweet about her giveaway, I checked out her post here - http://cherishyourstories.blogspot.com - and then I had to go to http://www.cherishbound.com to learn more!

Apparently, Tara used to be a scrapbooker, but discovered Cherish Bound 3 years ago, and has finished THIRTY BOOKS in that short amount of time. Wow!

Cherish Bound is unlike any product I have seen on the market. You can host parties and get stuff for free as well as finish a book in an hour or less! Man... how many scrapbooks can you finish in that time?! None! Heck, it would take me that long to make 5 or 6 cards (on most occasions), let alone a PAGE for a scrapbook.

I would love to win Tara's package so that I can share the story of the James family! I was adopted as a toddler but found my birth family about 9 or 10 years ago, and there are a lot of empty spaces in our family history. I am trying to piece them together, and would love to utilize Cherish Bound to help me tell the story.

Especially since my mother, Carol James, passed unexpectedly in April of 2007, so it's up to us, her three children, to carry on her legacy to her 7 grandchildren.

This product will help me attain that goal. I like the concept of Cherish Bound so much that I may just host a party! (After the giveaway ends of course!! Just in case!)

If you go by Tara's blog, please be sure to tell her I sent you!

Another Birthday Wish!

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Today is Veteran's Day and is also Very Special because today, November 11th is my Granddaddy's birthday! Although I am 2600 miles away, I love you incredibly Grandpa! And thank you for your service to our country!

My Granddaddy is 78 today! Isn't that great?! And he is still so active and healthy! God is good!

I am off of work today due to working on Federal Property. (It's awesome to be a Government Contractor for sooooo many reasons!!!!)
So I may make some cool things today for later Christmas gifts; I have some laundry to do; I have a few things I could clean. Will I is the question!!!! I definitely would rather papercraft!

As soon as the kids go to school I will decide what I am going to do...

Hope you enjoy your day and PLEASE remember to thank a Veteran!

Happy Sunday!

Sunday, November 9, 2008

Just wanted to come by today and say Happy Sunday to everyone! God is good! He allowed us to wake up today! I woke up early today, earlier than I normally would like to be awake, but I did awake on my own, without the influence of others, so that makes it better.

I am dealing with some emotional issues in my life today so I didn't sleep good but I am going to take some time to reflect and focus inwardwly as well as on my children and my own happiness. That is someone that I have never truly done.

To help with that, I am praying and attending church today. Mountain Christian Church, the church that I attend, is starting a new series today and its on how to pray. For the next four weeks my family and I will learn how to pray, how to talk to God. Should be gone.

Have a blessed Sunday and try to take it easy!

Love,
Angie

Prayers

Thursday, November 6, 2008

Oh yeah I almost forgot... tomorrow my uncle is going in for surgery. Should be simple so I pray that he is in and out quickly but safely. And that he has a speedy recovery, although that means he'll be heading out to Iraq soon! (He's a government contractor like me... but he lives in Washington state...)

Please keep him in your prayers!

Thanks,
Angie

Birthday Shoutouts!

Happy Birthday to my boyfriend's mom, Judy, whose birthday is today.

Tomorrow is my oldest "baby"'s birthday. She will be 14. Wow, it's crazy to look back over the last 14 years, to see how both her and I have grown up and changed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY GIRL!

Well I will be back to post again soon. It's so frustrating to not be able to post! But I need a new pc or money to get mine fixed! :-(

Have a good one!

Happy November!

Sunday, November 2, 2008

Hello there! I miss blogging! I hate that blogs are blocked at work! I hate that my pc is inoperational at home! I hate not being able to upload pics of my creations through my cell phone to my blog!

On another note... Hope you and your family had a great Halloween! I am really not a Halloween person, partially due to being raised a Catholic, but more recently, growing more in my Christian faith. I do allow my children to play along, but I don't like to dress up for this "holiday", except for one time (and that was because I had to - Halloween-themed birthday party!), and even though I am a papercrafter, I typically don't make Halloween cards. I did this year, though. (Scroll down for that post...) I mailed a card to my nieces in Kent, WA, a card to my nephews in Tacoma, WA, mailed one to my boyfriend's mom here in Maryland, and I made one for each of my children here at home (and forgot to give them to them!!!!! Just realized that!!!! OOPS!!! Will leave them for them in the am before I head out to work!).

This year, since we are attending church again (Mountain Christian church for any of you who are local), we decided to go to the Trunk or Treat event they held there. My son, Sebastian, who is 12, went to a friend's house, so just my 9 year old daughter and I went. It was a nice time! They had free hot dogs and bottled water for everyone, some music, and 5 rows of vehicles with their trunks decorated. Some were really cool!!!

Yesterday (Saturday), my boyfriend and I FINALLY went to Six Flags (America, for you non-locals who may not know our Six Flags here), and had a good time there. It was about time that we went, too, because I had bought those tickets back in July (I think), and hadn't used them. If I didn't use them by today, it would have been a waste of money, so I made sure that we used them!

Well...here it is 1041 at night and I just got done folding some laundry. I need to get some sleep so I am going to sign off for now...

If anyone reads this, good night...

I also have some $5 off Similac coupons/checks but they have my name on them so I really hope someone else can use them??? (If you can confirm or deny this, please contact me!)

Venus Embrace Razor

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Good evening! Hope you are well! Its Saturday night, 11:31 pm, and here I am blogging. But there is a good reason.

I just checked my mail and I received a free Venus Embrace Razor from Vocalpoint. Have you ever checked out this website? I joined it over a year ago and they are always sending me cool items - either free trial products or coupons. So I would highly suggest you go sign up. The link is www.vocalpoint.com. Its specifically for women, too.

So I haven't used this razor yet but I plan to ASAP! I also received some coupons for this product, which is why I am posting today. I would like to share these coupons with 5 lucky winners. The coupons are for $4 off of the purchase of one Venus Embrace razor. I am sure they are quite pricey, as these types of razors usually retail for $12 to $16. At least these coupons will save you $4!

On the package I received:
"Gets virtually every hair for dramatically smooth skin!"

"5 curve-hugging blades individually adjust and leave skin so smooth"

"Protective ribbon of moisture for smooth glide"

"Use with Satin Care Alluring Avocado Shave Gel"

"Change cartridge easily right in your shower"

"For best results, store UP to dry between uses"

Venus cartridges are sold separately.

So if you would like to win one of these coupons from me, comment here between now & next Saturday, November 1st (my Mom's birthday!), and I will draw five names who will be the lucky recipients of these coupons.

*if you do not have your email address in your Blogger profile, or if you do not have a Blogger account, please leave your email address so that I can contact you.*

*to avoid spammers post your email address in the following format,
YouATyourispDOTcom. I will figure it out!

For all of you moms out there, please come back for my post for two cans of Similac powder formula that I will be giving away in a few days, along with some gift checks for the formula! I have 2 different kind to give away!

Until then, take care, and God bless!!!

Happy Thursday!!!

Good morning! Hope you are doing well! Today is my last day of work this week & I am so in need of it! I need REST! (but probably won't get it - you know what I'm talking about!) Tomorrow I volunteer at my daughter's school for her teacher but I really want to go to Six Flags! (I bought tickets back in JULY and STILL haven't used them!) I can use them until Nov. 2nd so I better get cracking huh?!

It's fantastic now that I am blogging (regularly - not sure how long though!) and I put up a live traffic feed, I'm actually getting hits! I don't get to stamp much, so I don't get to post my creations here often, but that's why this blog is called my 'Everything Blog' - it contains links that I find interesting, CONTESTS, ramblings about my life, all kinds of cool stuff!

Here's something for you to check out TODAY! It's the 18 Rainbow days of Angelosity over at Angelosity's blog! She has some cool challenges going on. Stop on by and check it out.

P.S. She's a fellow papercrafter and if you are too, you'll LOVE her creations! She's on the ODBD Design Team!

Feel free to sign my comments and let me know that you were here! I love making new friends!

God Bless,

Drugstore cheapies!

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Okay... I am blogging using my T-Mobile Sidekick, and with a HUGE migraine, so please bear with me!!!

I decided I need to post more! I love blogging! I love papercrafting! And I LOVE finding a good bargain (or two!)... and with today's economy, who doesn't???

Yesterday I had a major issue come up and it is still resolved... I hope to get it straightened out today because it is going to mess up the next 2 weeks of our lives, if I do not! Argh! That's why I have the migraine! I didn't have anything to take last night so I took a Unisom sleeping pill just so I could get some rest!!! And I had slept wrong the night before last & messed up my neck (down where it meets my shoulders) so I have been dealing with that pain also.

As I write this, I have just taken some Excedrin migraine (3 of them!!), I put up a dark shower curtain to block the light coming into my room, and I have a cold pack on my head. (The cold pack, by the way, is something I had gotten from Rite Aid awhile back...it was a GREAT deal!!! The inside part - the cold part itself - is clay and can be used hot or cold... it goes into a sleeve which has a strap with velcro on it so you can actually wrap it where u need relief! Which is great!)

Anyway, on to today's topic...
Deals at Rite Aid. I just went 2 my local 24 hr Rite Aid and they had 4 fliers in there that I grabbed:
1 - weekly sales flier
2 - coupon sale flier (save over $260!!!)
3 - Single Check Rebates (164 offers up to $871 rebate value!!!)
4 - Beauty the RITE Way flier - 13 brands with $27 of savings!

So... check it out!!! There's some great deals in those books!!!

Have a blessed day!
Toodles,
Angie

THINK, THINK, THINK!!!

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

I have to credit Lauren (aka MyTime) for this post again. The instructions were to take each of the letters of your middle name and think of a word to describe yourself. So... here goes!!!
*oh yeah, my middle name is Denise*

D - Daring - Yes, I can definitely say that I am pretty daring when I want to be!! I tend to do what I want, no matter what, and if I do something dumb (which is VERY RARE the older I get!) I will deal with it and move on!

E - Ever-changing moods - lol! My astrological sign is Cancer and I can definitely change moods like you can turn on (& off!) a light switch!!

N - Nice - I am very nice to anyone who is nice to me but once you make me mad, that's it - I'm done with you for life!!!
I - Independent - DEFINITELY!!! I've been on my own since I was 16 years old & just because of that, I have learned ALOT! Now I'm 30 and it is soooo hard to believe that I've been on my own for 14 years now!!!

S - Sassy - I looked up Sassy just for this and it says "1. Rude & disrespectful; impudent. 2. Lively and spirited; jaunty. 3. Stylish; chic: a sassy little hat." I definitely don't like the first definition but I can go with the other two!!!

E - Empathetic - I definitely have a heart and will shed a tear for you if you're hurting!

Okay, I'm done blogging for today... I'll stop back tomorrow!!! Be blessed!!!

I'm not sure I agree 100%! I say my adoptive mom is Type A personality! I'll have to get back to you on this!

All play and no work!!!

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

It's Day 2 of the Bloggy Giveaway, and I must admit, I haven't been motivated AT ALL to do any work!!! this is getting bad...
I'm so used to surfing the net most of the day or making myself look busy that I'm just not feeling this project I'm supposed to be doing... YUCK! then the guy who is working on cleaning up this database with me, keeps coming by here, and I have a bit of an attitude, so I'm like, 'Go away! I DO NOT work for you!' but I'm trying to be nice! Wow...
All this is stemming from last week... I didn't get to peruse www.sweepsadvantage.com AT ALL last week so I spent most of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, signing up for sweeps that I had missed!
If you all only knew how many samples/coupons I have gotten since starting this "mission", you might say I have OCD! Not to mention the amount of sweeps that I have entered! Even I couldn't answer that question right now!
But, I'll tell you this - today on my lunch break I went to Walmart. I had three 'free' coupons: one for a 22-ct. or less package of Always thin or Always Clean, one for a box of the new triange Lipton tea (any flavor), and one for a free 16 oz or less Carnation Coffee Creamer, so I got the new Blueberry Cobbler Creamer, which is like HEAVEN to me! Plus I used some Vaseline coupons, and I got me some of their new Cocoa Butter lotion (yum!) ($1 off coupon), some of their Healthy hands and nail lotion ($1.50 off coupon), and some of their new foot lotion ($1.50 off coupon). My original total was $27.53, but with coupons, it came to $17.74.
Boo-Yah!!! How's that for savings?!
Go Angie!!!

Anyway, I'll stop back... after all this Bloggy Giveaway business, I've decided that I'd start posting more and maybe I could make some blog friends?
Be blessed!

Bloggy Carnival Giveaways

Happy Monday! Today at 8 am CST (11 am EST), the Bloggy Carnival Giveaways kicks off here! You can also see the badge on my sidebar to the right. Good luck!
It's one of my new things as of late to enter TONS and TONS of sweepstakes! Ever since December, I've been doing it. So far I won one video game and I'm waiting on that to be delivered. Oh yeah, and I won $10 worth of product from a stamp company! which was way cool!
So, in essence, my blog, which I originally started to be a Rubber Stamping blog, has now been integrated to help people fine & win contests!
It's cool though because it's my blog and I can do with it as I wish! And... I haven't been stamping as much as I'd like! I've had some health problems as of late, plus tons of stuff going on in my personal life! I did get some new stuff this past week, so hopefully soon I'll make some cards, and I'll post them here!
Until then, have a great day! See you soon!

Health problems

Sunday, January 13, 2008

For about a month and a half I've been having stomach problems. Like the kind that i thought i was pregnant. I've met a great guy that I get along great with, and we have alot in common, can make each other laugh and compliment each other in the best ways... so it's only normal that since I've never felt this way before, and he hasn't had any children yet (while I have 3 and thought I was done, and even had a tubal ligation done almost 9 years ago), that I would want to give him a child. Well... my monthly in December was all of whack, plus I was taking Topamax for Migraine treatment, which will HELP you get pregnant.... so I thought I was pregnant. everytime I ate my stomach hurt, I have major gas, you know, could be pregnant... so i bought a home test, it was negative, but I don't trust them, so I did another, negative again... then I called the gyn and told them what was going on and since it could have been an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, they immediately wrote up a scrip for me to go to Quest Diagnostics and have a blood test. So I found out this past Thursday that it was negative...it made both of us sad. We would have beautiful children. I love him incredibly, like I have loved no other before him... so I guess if what I read on webmd.com about tubes growing back together 10 years after having the procedure doneis true, I pray for this to happen so I can give him a child. Anyway, it's my gall bladder. I have gall stones and must have my gall bladder taken out. I'm calling the doc tomorrow since I already have an appointment for this Friday, but I'm going to try to get in there on Tuesday since the office is open later... I need to have this surgery done!!! forget this pain!
